Berkeley Paths

There are roughly 126 pathways cutting through Berkeley neighborhoods. Designed and laid throughout Berkeley’s construction, the paths acted as shortcuts to streetcars, and an expedient exit during fires. While technically city property, many paths stroll past the doors and windows of private residences, with the distinct impression of tolerance to invitation. Maintained by the Berkeley Path Wanderers Association, the paths range from derelict to theme park and everything in between.
